1. a large foam mat (for the body/base)
2. Gesso (to get a smooth surface, at least 3 thin coats and sanded down)
3. Sand paper (when sanding make sure it’s outside or in a well ventilated area and you use a mask)
4. Acrylic paint (the essential colours are a warm and cool variation of the primary colours and black and [a lot of] white. Though it doesn’t hurt to have more colours like forest green and burnt umber.) It’s also VERY important to have gold paint as well.
5. large foam boards and cardstock (for the elevated ‘pretty. odd. banner)
6. fake flowers and a fake butterfly (this is optional, you can always paint these details on, but I wanted mine to be more 3D.)
I also used a box cutter, craft glue, a large inexpensive brush, and Winsor and Newton sable brushes series 7 (sizes 01 and 03). It is important to use a high quality brush that keeps its point for the detail e.g. the ‘welcome to the sound of’ which was extremely hard to paint since it was so small.
If anyone plans on making this and you are planning on using foam mats like I did, I recommend making long, shallow incisions with the box cutter and going over them multiple times in order to get a smooth edge instead of trying to cut through the mat all at once since that will create a rough edge (I learnt that the hard way.) You can get these foam mats at your local hardware store. In Australia and NZ, you can get them at Bunnings Warehouse.

Thanks a lot. I’m not taking any commissions for it right now, but I might reconsider once I am on holidays again, which unfortunately won’t be until the end of November.
Anonymous said: What were your inspirations for your characters?
I first created my characters (Danny and Rory) back in November 2012, but they’ve gone through many many different character designs and have changed a lot since their initial conception. Embarrassingly Danny (appearance wise) was based off a younger Brendon Urie (surprise surprise) during his AFYCSO days and Rory was inspired by Mikey Way during the Danger Days era. However, their physical appearances have changed so much that they don’t really bear any resemblance to their initial models.
Back then the story was a pretty cliched high school romance thing between a popular guy and a nerdy-ish guy. The characters were pretty flat and so was the story, but I was reeeaaalllyyy into this fic called ‘Kill the Cool Kids” by takkatakkatakka which unfortunately I can’t find (But it was basically a MikeyXBrendon fic where Mikey was this super cool guy and Brendon was this shy bleak student who had a crush on Mikey and it was great and funny) and my story was essentially a very crappy rip off of that story. Thankfully though it has changed quite a bit, while it is still about two vastly different boys I think (hope) that it is less cliched … but who knows, we’ll have to find out.
My biggest inspirations now (besides music) is the television show Please Like Me, that is the tone I am going for in the comic (comedy and drama without spilling over into melodrama) and the movie My Own Private Idaho by Gus Van Sant which is a GREAT movie.
The characters personalities aren’t based on anyone I know personally, but where they live and their social outlook on life is very much based on a lot of the kids who went to my high school and grew up around me. Since I don’t live in the best neighborhood and a lot of the students didn’t really care about school or their grades there was a big chance that you could ‘fall into the wrong crowd’ (not me though because I
was am a huge loser with like, 3 friends.)
Welp that’s about it (actually there is quite a bit more, but this answer is getting extrememly long and I don’t want people to have to scroll though an entire essay.)
Edit - I found the Fic I was talking about Kill the cool Kids Master Post. It’s 18+ though I don’t remember anything explicit in the story (but then again I haven’t read it in quite a while.) You can also find the author’s Tumblr here, though she doesn’t post any bandom stuff anymore.
Anonymous said: would u be willing to sell some of your works bc pls
I probably won’t be selling any work any time soon because I’m going to be quite busy in the upcoming months, however if the demand is high enough I might consider opening up an online store. Incidentally I don’t really know anything about managing a store.
In regards to the pretty odd sign, I’ve addressed it here.
Thanks for your support.
Edit- Also most of my work is not made for print because I’m an idiot.
